Direct Political Contacts
Our overall objective is to ensure that government policy is set for the benefit of the entire UK population, not for the benefit of a small and highly influential subset. To do this, we make contact and build relationships with policy-makers.
We do this by means of individual meetings with legislators, by larger-scale briefings and by making written submissions to Inquiries etc. None of this can happen without the expertise and support of our members.
The image above shows the launch of The Rational Policy-maker’s Guide to the NHS at Westminster. The team also took the report to Holyrood and the Senedd.
We have made written submissions to the House of Lords Inquiry into debt sustainability and to Lord Darzi’s Inquiry into the state of the NHS.
We gave a pre-Budget briefing to MPs in Westminster to help them support a genuine Budget for National Renewal.
We have given briefings to individual MPs and groups of policy-makers in several parties on topics ranging from the economy and its links with the NHS, the practical implications of running a fiat currency system, the steps needed to ensure that policy does benefit the 99%, the differences between good growth and bad growth — and how to ensure a democratic path to tackling the climate emergency.
