Rachel Reeves and Sir Keir Starmer have spoken of the need for a decade of national renewal. Their first Budget will be critical to addressing the real problems of the UK; but there is a risk that it will not do so if they believe it is unaffordable to make the investments in national renewal that the country needs.

We shall be running a special event at Westminster to help MPs to understand these issues. Barry Gardiner MP will sponsor the event and Mark E Thomas will be joined by an expert panel including Will Hutton, Polly Toynbee and Martin Wolf, so the discussion will be as informed as it is important.
