This event will be the conclusion to a film about William Beveridge’s 1942 plan, the coherence of its vision and its optimistic faith in people as citizens, as discovered by a young person of today.
It is also aimed at bringing together speakers, members of the cast, real life campaigners and their supporters. Abandoned communities, disappearing libraries, air pollution, sewage in rivers, bad housing, malnutrition, health inequities etc, all these things that we march for, write about, protest against are all interconnected – as Beveridge saw.
The speakers, the campaigners and the audience listening to them at the events will be filmed, and the material will be available for use by the campaigners involved, and some of it will also be used in our film.
Mark E Thomas will be speaking alongside others including Kate Pickett and Danny Dorling.
