Dear [MP name],

Ending Treasury-Induced Decline: returning the levers of economic power to elected hands

I believe you have received an invitation from Clive Lewis MP, Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP and Lord John Hendy to an important event in Parliament about steps needed to enable the long-promised economic renewal to take place. As your constituent, I would like you to attend, to represent my interests in this vital subject.

As the Prime Minister said, “In the 1980s, Britain took some wrong turns. Political power was centralised, economic power privatised, large parts of the country de-industrialised, and they still haven’t recovered. Many feel as though they’re still in decline, and they don’t have the ability to turn things around. And that’s why we will change politics …” He proposes to make Number 10 North, “the nerve centre of a rewired Britain.” So far, unfortunately, the proposed rewiring leaves control of economic strategy in the hands of the institutions which have driven the failed policies of the last 40 years. That will not work. We cannot afford even one more Budget that fails to move the needle on the cost-of-living crisis. So this event is hugely important.

The sponsors will be joined by an panel with deep expertise in economics, business and finance.

If you cannot attend, a member of your staff is welcome to join.

Location: Committee Room 16, House of Commons

Date and time: 5:00pm (until 7:00pm) on Tuesday 15 September

RSVP: Nikolaj Lerche in Clive Lewis’s office (nik.lerche@parliament.uk )

I hope you will be able to attend.

Yours sincerely,
